Osprey Packs Aether 60 Backpack
August 19th, 2009For light mountaineering trips and go-light backpacking, the Osprey Aether 60 backpack offers a high performance suspension system typically reserved for larger packs. Two aluminum rods attached to the periphery of the backpanel evenly transfer the weight to the IsoForm custom moldable hipbelt. From there, the weight can be further distributed to the shoulders, where the IsoForm contoured shoulder harness contributes to a comfortable carry. Both the IsoForm hipbelt and shoulder harness are available in four sizes, although most people find that the size included with the pack matches their needs. Osprey pays attention to the details here and everywhere, making sure that all pack surfaces that touch the body do not have seams. This greatly reduces the chances of annoying pressure points developing as the day wears on. The Osprey Aether 60 backpack also offers a number of useful features, especially suited for carrying climbing equipment and camping gear that is usually awkward to carry. Good examples are the durable Stretch Woven front pocket, perfect for carrying a climbing rope, and the sleeping pad straps, removable if the plan is to cut ounces. The Osprey Aether 60 backpack also takes hydration seriously. The external dual entry side pockets accommodate one liter bottles for easy access and an internal backpanel hydration sleeve with exit ports over each shoulder provide hydration customization. The Osprey Aether 60 backpack is designed to comfortably carry loads of 35 to 45 lbs. For larger loads, and the added benefit of a zippered sleeping bag compartment, be sure to check out the Osprey Aether 70 and Aether 85 backpacks.
Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack
August 19th, 2009Wow! When Osprey decides to redesign their backpacks, they don’t just tack on a couple new bells and whistles. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack now features a rebuilt AirScape suspension system, custom molded hipbelt technology, and the IsoForm shoulder harness, available in four sizes. This system truly gives the backpacker a personal fit. The AirScape suspension system provides superior breathablility and ultra-comfortable pack to body contact while dual 7075 AL rods along both edges of the framesheet transfer the load to the custom fit hipbelt. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack carries the usual assortment of camping gear in an organized, efficient manner. Removable sleeping pad straps are ready when needed but can be removed for more streamlined packing. A sleeping bag compartment opens nice and wide for easy load division. Furthermore, side compression straps, dual access side pockets, and a deep stretch woven exterior front pocket hold all sorts of things in such a manner that they don’t clang or flop around. A refreshing sip of water is only a nod of the head away, thanks to dual exit ports for a hydration tube. And when you finally reach camp and want to head out on a reconnaissance mission, the floating top pocket and hipbelt can be removed from the pack body and joined together to make a fanny pack. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack is designed to comfortably carry loads of 40 to 50 lbs. For larger loads be sure to check out the Osprey Aether 85 backpack and for smaller loads be sure to check out the Osprey Aether 60 backpack.
